Ectoin is an 'extremolyte' that bacteria living in salty, hot environments produce to protect their cells. On skin it helps hold water, stabilise cell membranes and calm skin exposed to pollution and dryness.

How to use
Usually 0.5–2% in serums, creams and mists. Use morning and night every day.
Pairing
Pairs well with ceramides, panthenol and hyaluronic acid, and is useful for skin using retinoids.
