Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is the smallest AHA molecule; it loosens the bonds between surface cells so skin sheds more evenly. With regular use skin looks brighter and smoother, and dark marks and fine lines gradually soften. Its small size also makes it more likely to sting than other AHAs.
- Suits
- Normal skin, Oily skin, Combination skin
- Concerns
- Dullness, Dark spots, Anti-aging, Large pores
How to use
Leave-on products are usually 5–10% at a pH of about 3–4. Use in the evening two to three times a week, increasing if well tolerated; high-strength peels belong in a professional setting.
Pairing
Pairs well with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and panthenol. Avoid the same night as retinoids, high-strength BHA or acidic vitamin C.
